It's TIME! For the Roachdale Rib & Blues Fest 2024!!! Saturday Sept 28th, Noon - 8pm! Click here: Rib and Blues Fest 2024
Roachdale is a small town of 900 people located in northern Putnam County in the heart of west central Indiana. The Roachdale Revitalization Cooperative Alliance (RRCA) is a grassroots non-profit organization working toward a sustainable community committed to healthy food supply, economic development, renewable energy, town beautification with walkable streets, historic preservation, and social and physical community activities.
Roachdale has a rich history, beautiful old houses and interesting shops. Take a walk through our neighborhoods! Click on Roachdale District to take an interactive tour, developed by Ball State students through a collaborative effort with RRCA and the Heritage Preservation Society.
Check out the Roachdale Revitalization Plan completed late 2018 through grant funding from the Office of Community and Rural Affairs (OCRA) using the Community Development Block Grant and other matching funds. Many town folk including town business owners were involved in creating this possible "direction to the future".
Take a ride on our train! In 2017 a large mural representing our town's beginning was painted on the Community Center. This great train mural video tells you more about the mural, the artist and Roachdale's history.
Greencastle is our county seat and is home to DePauw University. Putnam County has 9 covered bridges with 3 in the immediate area of Roachdale. Two state parks are nearby. We are located on US 236 just 5 miles east of US 231. And we are only 40 miles west of Indianapolis..
RRCA strives to help the Roachdale community by providing events and supporting growth and revitalization. Some of the events RRCA has sponsored include:
RRCA is a member of the Indiana Main Street program of Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs (OCRA) which encourages economic development, redevelopment and improvement to downtown areas.
RRCA President Joe Buser says that in "working with the Town of Roachdale we have been awarded funding from the State of Indiana for a planning grant which will allow us to further study the revitalization of our community. After this process, we will be able to apply for a construction grant to build new sidewalks, install street lamps, provide grants for businesses for façade restoration and landscaping. This is just part of the overall plan to rebuild Roachdale into an economically vibrant community that promotes a healthy and safe environment in which to live and work. Please join us in our journey. 100% of every dollar contributed goes directly back into our community planning and work. Thank you for your help in making our town and county more vibrant."
